A Quick Break/Sword of Fargoal

A Quick Break/Sword of Fargoal

In lieu of a particularly busy last few weeks at work, I’ve taken a quick break from programming for a bit. I can honestly say that I have seen code in my dreams in the past, and that’s something I’d like to avoid in the present!

So for the most part, I’ve been kicking back and playing plenty of games. A mixture of roguelikes, oldschool PC games, and emulated games currently hold my attention; though I have purposely refrained from picking up any new titles, seeing as some of the ones I have my eyes on are sure to suck up all of my time.

Fact is, the games that I have chosen to catch up on have been surprisingly immersive and have taken quite a bit of my time in any case! One of these such gems is Sword of Fargoal, a modern re-interpretation on the iPhone of a roguelike classic. This game is exactly what I look for in iPhone games: streamlined, original, and easily played in short bursts. The fact that it’s also a retro roguelike with a modern presentation layer does not hurt! Little secret: this was my first purchase off of the iTunes Store, and a great first, at that.

I plan to slowly get back into the development of Dance of Death throughout the next week or so, and knock out the next featureset which I’ve purposely made shorter and more palatable. As usual, you can follow me on the Twitters for slightly more frequent updates, and if you like, the developer of Sword of Fargoal as well!
